Belize offers countless attractions and activities…
Belize offers countless attractions such as Mayan ruins, excursions to the second largest barrier reef in the world, mystical Mayan sites and pyramids, prehistoric cave systems, jungle excursions, sailing trips with historic, handmade sailboats, adventurous zip lines over treetops, the Belize Zoo which was founded from a sanctuary, canoe trips, swimming in the 27 degree warm, turquoise blue tropical sea or in one of the somewhat eerie cenotes….
Directly in Sarteneja, the Swiss Papiliorama Foundation has created a huge sanctuary for the protection of tropical forests. In 1989, it started a large conservation project with the creation of the Shipstern Nature Reserve (88 km²) in Belize, Central America. Today, this nature reserve is an endowment in perpetuity and has been fully integrated into Belize’s network of protected areas. You can climb the lookout tower here and be amazed by the breathtaking view or dive deeper into the jungle under the expert guidance of local rangers. With a little luck, you might even spot a jaguar or ocelot.

Belize has so much to offer. Be inspired and enjoy the lush nature. About 40% of Belize’s land area and one third of its marine area is protected. Belize is about half the size of Switzerland, but has only about 440,000 inhabitants. Plenty of room for nature and your dreams.
